Why Google Doesn't Actually Verify Trades
The Algorithm vs. The Reality
When you see a "Google Guaranteed" badge, it's easy to assume someone from Google has personally vetted that contractor. The reality is far more automated—and potentially dangerous for homeowners.
The LSA Loophole
Google Local Services Ads (LSA) rely heavily on third-party data aggregators and automated background checks. While they do basic screening, they often miss:
- Recent license suspensions that haven't hit the database yet.
- Lapsed insurance policies that weren't caught in the annual check.
- Subcontracting practices that bypass the "vetted" owner.
Local Accountability Matters
Because Verified Trades is focused exclusively on the BC Interior, we have boots on the ground. We know who the local players are, we know which companies have changed hands, and we know who is actually doing the work. An algorithm in California can't replace regional knowledge.
Vetted Regional Intelligence.
Every guide in our registry is cross-referenced with provincial safety standards and local trade experience. We don't just write; we verify.
